Africa’s rapid emergence as the world’s largest free trade area makes it incredibly fertile ground for innovators and SMEs to develop and deploy new technologies designed to solve key, high priority challenges in the mega-cities of tomorrow.
We are looking for UK SMEs to partner with South African and Kenyan organisations in these rapidly emerging cities:
▲ Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg in South Africa, and
▲ Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu in Kenya
Urban Links Africa is underpinned by the concept of equitable partnerships and driven by the ideal of creating two-way knowledge-sharing and innovation catalysation between the UK and the selected African cities.
To be successful in your application, an solution will need to be formed of a partnership between UK SMEs and Kenyan and South African organisations.

We have finalised the key urban challenges which we are inviting partnerships between UK SMEs and South African / Kenyan organisations to tackle. You can read all about these challenges on our Open Call page.
The Open Call is now live and will run until August 21st 2020. Partnerships between UK SMEs and South African / Kenyan organisations are invited to submit their proposals for innovative technology solutions during this period.
Next project milestones:
- June 24: Open Call for proposals from UK SME and SA / Kenyan partnerships
- August 21: Open Call closes
- September: SME partnership selection
